The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) evaluated 100 U.S. cities. They rated each city according to spring allergy prevalence, their pollen scores, the amount of allergy medication used and the amount of board-certified allergists per patient. Do you think the city you lived in could have made the top 10 of the worst cities to live in once spring allergy season arrives? Take a look and see.

    No. 10: Wichita, KN

Wichita fell down from its spot of number five.

    No. 9: St. Louis, MO

St. Louis is up from its spot of 16. The volume of pollen and mold particles is worse than average. (300 grains per cubic meter of air or higher).

    No: 8: Jackson, MS

Jackson is up from its spot of number 13.

    No. 7: Greensboro NC

Greensboro has held its place at number seven for another year. They received an average pollen score, yet a worse than average in the number of allergists.

    No. 6: Philadelphia, PA

Philadelphia has moved up from its spot of number 12. It has a high pollen score the last year.

    No. 5: Charlotte, NC

Charlotte actually dropped a couple of spots this year. Last year they were holding the number 3 spot.

    No. 4: Dayton, OH

Dayton moves up from its spot of number 8.

    No. 3: Chattanooga, TN

Chattanooga made a big jump from number 17.

    No. 2: Louisville, KY

Louisville dropped one spot from the last year.

    No. 1: Knoxville, TN

Knoxville moved up one spot from last year to be crowned as the worst city for spring allergies. It had a worse than average pollen count and the amount of medication being used. They had an average amount of allergists.

Yet, deep down it doesn't really matter where you live. What does matter is the pollen count where you are. Therefore keep track of it and remember it is always higher in the mornings when it peaks.

You should also consider ways to reduce the pollution with HEPA vacuum cleaners here. You will reduce the density of pollutants as well as the allergens. Your life will be more comfortable.
